Our villas near Ahangama, on the South coast of Sri Lanka provide a beautiful, bespoke, boutique Soul & Surf in a truly lush jungle location. We’re offering a particularly focused surf, yoga & massage experience. With more experts on hand than most and more attention to detail than many, you’ll get what you need from a stay with us. Be it deeper relaxation, progression or rehabilitation. To meet new people, to hang with your loved one, to hang with the family. Of course if you want to just laze in the pool with a Piña Colada that’s good too. We’re not too worthy!

We will always support the local community and surf industry wherever we can, we will support local charities and as a company we will pledge 1% of our total income each year to the environmentally focused 1% For The Planet charity. Last year we donated to the UK’s Surfers Against Sewage.

The Resort

Our villas set amidst lush jungle foliage brimming with bird-life and over looking a river way that has been enhanced and developed to support and nurture local river life.

The villas include a indoor lounges, a swimming pool and an outdoor covered lounge pavilion area brimming with WIFI. We have a yoga shala and treatment rooms just a hop, skip and a jump from the villas. The villas are of a very high standard and in a stunning location. Attention to detail, considered design, stylish interiors and a focus on a relaxed yet comprehensive service delivery is what drives us and excites us and these villas in Sri Lanka continue this theme perfectly. We think you’ll dig it.

Our eight Quite Special Rooms, despite their name, are our standard room type. They all have en-suite bathrooms and a verandah overlooking the gardens and river. They all have all the things you’d expect of a high level room plus a few things you might not. They have really comfy beds, crisp bed linen, fluffy robes, locally and ethically sourced toiletries, air-conditioning and a mini-bar. Our four Extra Special rooms are a similar size to the Quite Special Rooms, with the exception that they all have an amazing indoor/outdoor bathroom with a big bath tub open to the stars to make the most of the tropical climate. Of course they also all have the things you’d expect of a high level room. Really comfy beds, crisp bed linen, fluffy robes, locally and ethically sourced toiletries, air-conditioning and a mini-bar. When you book we’ll assign you to be room that best suits your needs whether you are a single traveller, a couple or a family. Please add a note to your booking if you have a particular or special request. For families travelling together we can link some of the rooms together to make a family suite or some of the rooms can fit an extra bed bedroom. Be sure to tell us before you book so that we can make sure you get the right rooms for this to be possible.

Room Types

We grade our rooms in Kerala as Quite Nice, Nice & Really Nice rooms. If we were to continue that grading system we’d probably call our two graders of rooms Extremely Nice Rooms and Really Special Rooms. We have different configurations of rooms available from twin rooms to a stand-alone villa with a river-front deck.

Extremely Nice Room

Our two Extremely Nice Rooms, despite their name, are our standard room type. They all have en-suite bathrooms, some have outdoor bathrooms, some have a private outdoor deck. They all have all the things you’d expect of a high level room plus a few things you might not. They have really comfy beds, crisp bed linen, fluffy robes, locally and ethically sourced toiletries, air-conditioning, safe deposit box  and a mini-bar.

Really Special Rooms

Our three Really Special Rooms are simply that. For one reason or another they are breath-taking, either a river-front verandah with day-bed or a private lounge area or just huge and spacious. Some have amazing indoor/outdoor bathrooms to make the most of the tropical climate. Of course they also all have the things you’d expect of a high level room; really comfy beds, crisp bed linen, fluffy robes, locally and ethically sourced toiletries, air-conditioning, safe deposit box and a mini-bar.

Second Season Change-over

Starting December ’16, we’ll be moving to our new bespoke premises. It’s being built by the same developer to a similar standard as the villas we hosted the retreats in for the first season, and is located just across the river. The new rooms fall somewhere between what was the Extremely Nice Rooms and the Really Special Rooms of our first season.

I’ve just come back from an amazing week at Soul & Surf; lush accommodation, delicious food, wicked surf teachers and fab yoga. The photos on their website do not do the place justice, it is stunning and you can involve yourself as much or as little as you wish. It is the low season but it was perfect; not too hot and quiet beaches. I was a solo traveller and a little worried about being the only one but I need not have worried there were loads of other solo travellers as well as couples, and everyone mingled together. Dying to try out the Kerela one now!!! Thanks to all at Soul & Surf for a really great week.

Seriously, book this already!

This place is incredible.
We went for a full week in the middle of August, and I am still in withdrawal from leaving.

The communication with the resort is perfect; as they are attentive, responsive, and very prompt. We also coordinated transport to and from the airport with them, which I highly recommend for convenience purposes, and the resort is a little remote.

The room was super comfortable, clean, and relaxing.
The staff were extremely nice, accommodating, and responsive.
The food was AMAZING. Fresh and healthy, and absolutely delicious! There were a few people in our group with dietary restrictions and there was no issue accommodating them.
The surf instructors were AWESOME. Very patient, supportive, funny, and we just had a great time getting beat up by waves while learning how to surf. And we actually were independently catching waves within the first 2 days, so that was impressive, and speaks to the awesomeness of the instructors.
Jasmine and Franco are fantastic hosts and coordinators.
Hayley was seriously THE BEST yoga teacher that I have ever experienced, so much so that I paid additionally for a private session with her.

As long as you enjoy being active and social, you will LOVE this trip. You are up at sunrise for surf (and close out the day with surfing at sunset), and there is daily yoga in the afternoon. All meals are communal and we really enjoyed our fantastic group of people, but you can be as social or reclusive as you desire.

Room Tip: They are all ground level and quiet. They are all amazing and adjacent to pools.
