The Yoga, Surf & Mindfulness retreat is going to be an unforgettable experience amidst the most amazing settings of the Algarvian west coast of  Portugal. Given 8 times per year on different dates all in a stunning eco farm house surrounded by gorgeous nature only a few kilometers from the most fabulous beaches Portugal has to offer. Come and experience a wonderful, nourishing mixture of superb Iyengar yoga thought by Shaini Verdon, great surf  by highly qualified teachers, mindfulness sessions & the best healthy, nutritious, yummy food. The retreat is set up in such a way that everyone get’s what they are looking for choosing from the following 3 packages:

There will be twice daily Iyengar  yoga classes, aligning the body, mind & being. We start the morning with a more invigorating class, working through alignment principles connecting the intelligence of the brain with the space of the heart. In the evening after a splendid day of surf or an immersion into mindfulness there will be a restorative session, calming the senses & relaxing the body. Enjoying the stunning scenery. Connecting this all together is the wonderful food we will share. Based on a healthy, nourishing diet. Mostly organic & seasonal and definitely absolutely delicious. Cooking a smorgasbord of different dishes. During the retreats the groups will be kept small no more than 8-10 surfing yogis, so that everyone get’s the personal attention they need and the ambience can become one of friends.

All the retreats will be held at a stunning setting amidst the national park of Costa Vicentina on the South West coast of Portugal. In a secluded sustainable, eco farm house surrounded by amazing an garden, cork & pine forest and added with a lush & big salt water swimming pool.  The farm house consists of two buildings with 5 ensuite bedrooms  and a big inside yoga room. The whole house is  stunningly rebuilt , completely restored in a barefoot luxurious way. The house is very cozy, walking from one room to the next. Both houses have big living rooms with comfy sofas and a fireplace for those chilly evenings. There is a big luxurious farm kitchen where all the great meals will be prepared and laughter will be shared. The yoga room is a big open inside space perfect for all the classes . The most amazing place to host a retreat, an escape away from the crowds, a place to get centered again, to come home. All the ensuite rooms are luxurious, with each room having their own bathroom. The house is only a 10min drive from one of the most beautiful beaches Portugal has to offer: praia do Amoreira with it’s lagoons and amazing waves. All other great beaches are all in the vicinity. 

The eco farm house is set amidst a coastal national park. It’s a self sustainable house connected to solar panels. The big  pool is definitely one of the best features of the house and is completely filled with salt water so no chlorine added.

Your hosts

Yoga Teacher & host

During this retreat Shaini will be there only as a facilitator and host. Shaini is a certified introductory level Iyengar Yoga teacher and is currently studying for her Junior 1.  She is forever a student  following  many classes & workshops with renowned Iyengar teachers Billy Konrad,  Patxi Lizardi,  & others. Her teaching is based on creating strength, flexibility & spaciousness within the body & soul through proper alignment, verbal and precise hands-on adjustments and bringing  awareness into the practice. She  creates a warm, safe & loving space, but also likes to work with playfulness.

Currently she gives weekly yoga classes and with a lot of love organises  Yogaion Retreats. 

Elisabeth Tiesinga

Mindfulness & assisting

Elisabeth (Liz) is a certified mindfulness teacher since 2012. She is currently following an advanced teacher training program with See True Mindfulness Institute in the Netherland. Under the name Dyota (.com) she hosts the 8 week MBSR training, workshops and other mindfulness activities in Portugal. She has been hosting mindfulness workshops for Yogaion since 2013. Besides being passionate about sharing mindfulness, she enjoys practicing yoga, surf and meditation and living a basic lifestyle in nature with her partner, 3 year old daughter and dog.

Neves “Shivani” Estrela

Chef & workshops

Shivani is the amazing chef during all of the retreats. She studied macrobiotics at the Portuguese Macrobiotic Institute in Lisbon, from 2003 to 2005. From 2006, she continued to learn at the macrobiotic center Cuisine et Vacances, in France, until she moved back to Portugal in 2008.She has a great eye for detail & precision. During the retreats she will prepare all the delicious plant based meals. Which will  guaranteed be amazing. Origin-ally from the lovely Azores islands, Shivani now lives with her two wonderful kids on the Costa Vicentina where since 2013 she started to work as a professional cook.
