The wonders of Thanyapura

Thanyapura Health & Sport Resort is known for its world-class sports facilities, thorough and thoughtful approach on professional coaching in Phuket, Thailand. It is a peaceful environment to the development of the body, mind and soul.

Their utmost commitmment is to serve every individual with their personal goals and maximizing the potential to inspire the mind and maximize your inner potential.

We took this opportunity to speak to one of the representative of Thanyapura, Alexandra Lochmatter, Director of Business Development, as she shares with us her perspective of Thanyapura…

How did Thanyapura come about and what do you guys offer that is different from other
retreats?

Traditional vacation plans revolve around destination exploration, partying and sightseeing.

Health-themed holidays are a rising trend, with travellers booking health packages instead of the run-of-the-mill hotel packages.  Thanyapura caters to two kinds of guests: athletes of all levels and guests who wish to switch to healthy lifestyles.  Unlike other retreats, we offer medical doctors and experts in their fields who guide the guest through their experience.

Each experience is different as every guest has different goals.  For example, if a guest wants to go on a detox, we have medical, nutrition and wellness advisors to recommend the tests, treatments and nutrition plans.  For sports, professional coaches are available to teach beginners how to get started or guide advanced athletes on how to up their game.   A team of medical, wellness and nutrition experts guide the guest through a transformative journey.

Thanyapura Health & Sports Resort is a destination where health-conscious travellers can optimise their lives in areas of sports, health, wellness, mind and nutrition.  Athletes of all levels train and prepare for global sporting events in the state-of-the-art facilities.  Every guest comes to Thanyapura with a goal to achieve important milestones in sports or to adopt healthy lifestyles for overall wellness.

What was the inspiration to create a retreat of this sort?

The inspiration for creating the resort is born from the vision to optimise the health care system.  The healthcare system is defined as the organization of people, institutions and resources that deliver healthcare services to meet health needs of the world’s population.  What’s alarming is that what’s used to be mostly senior citizen health concerns have now gone mainstream.  Elementary school kids are defined by their asthma and allergies, attention deficit disorders, weight issues and diabetes.  Young adults are suffering from overweight and obesity afflictions, diabetes or stressed-induced cardiovascular conditions and cancer.

A balanced mind belongs to a healthy body.  We believe many diseases are preventable and it is our goal to teach guests methods of “lifestyle modifications.”  To achieve a healthy body, our doctors and experts recommend balanced nutrition, exercise, sleep and rest in combination with other treatments tailored for the guest.  The only way out is a preventative health care system.  Instead of spending money on improving medication, we should spend money on people to overcome their addictions and change their lifestyles.

What advice would you give to someone attending a retreat for the first time?

Come with an open mind. You will be meeting new people and sharing new experiences, all of which will add to your having an amazing retreat. You will also get a chance to learn new ideas in the areas of mind, body and soul, many of you will be able to implement into your own life once you get home.

How in your opinion would a retreat at Thanyapura benefit a tired and stressed out soul?

Thanyapura Health & Sports Resort provide genuine services and first-class facilities to spearhead the movement to healthy lifestyles.  We use an integrative dimension of conventional medicine, functional and holistic medicine, mind training, nutrition consultation, sports and personal training.  By practicing mind training and experience our life coach approach, people who come to Thanyapura will change their attitude in order to achieve healthy habits.

One place to visit in Phuket

Phuket offers many possibilities – it’s difficult to pick just one destination.  If we had to pick one destination, we would recommend to visit Nai Thon and Layan Beaches.  Most Phuket beaches offer picnic areas, long tail boat rentals and Thai local cuisine.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I like anything plant-based.  We recommend the raw beetroot, carrot and broccoli hummus wraps.  The dish is what you are looking for in raw vegan cuisine: highly-rich in plant-based nutrients.  There are two main benefits for raw food.  The first – raw food is not cooked at high temperature, as the heat destroys nutrients your body needs.  Second, cooking with unwanted substances can be toxic as it accumulates in your system – polluting your body in the long run.  Eating raw vegan food is the best way to get all the nutrients in its pure form, easier for your body to consume and free from toxins.

There are currently two ongoing retreats at Thanyapura and both retreats are catered to people with different needs.  Detox & De-stress Retreat at Thanaypura is a targeted retreat for people who suffers from,

  • Digestive issues
  • Have unexplained aches and pains
  • Often feel fatigued
  • Have difficulty losing weight
  • Feel stressed
  • Have difficulty sleeping
  • Have any chronic illness
  • Have allergies

With that, we shall end this post with a qoute..

” To me, good health is more than just exercise and diet. It’s really a point of view and a mental attitude you have about yourself.”
